This is my first forage into writing about blogs. I'm not an expert and don't claim to be. If I were, I wouldn't have to work. I'd be blogging instead of working, and the money would roll in daily from Google Adsense. That is the dream, and my my ultimate goal.
Today, I am writing about how to write a blog, and I will try to keep it short. I am writing about blogs to teach myself, and to help others by way of teaching myself. Recently I had a bit of success with Google Adsense, and it has reawakened the writer in me, and has given me hope.
Blogging is harder than you think. You need to be persistent, and write well. There are many tools available in the market, to help you in writing and promoting your blogs.
Blogs should be short, about 250 words at most (some experts say that your blog should be about 100 to 200 words). This blog is a bit long, and could be broken up into several blogs with links to each one (called deep linking). This is one of the many excellent ideas for getting people to read your blogs, and is part of marketing for blogs.
Your blog should have a good title, and contain meta and h1 formatting tags. Below is an excellent video put togther by someone on youtube about how to create a blog.
Before you start your blog, you should know what you want to write about, and jot down a few key points in notepad or on a piece of paper.
Write your blog in a word processor, like OpenOffice.org Writer, or Microsoft Word. This will avoid spelling mistakes, prevent mishaps, and make it easier to read. Writing a blog online is not advisable. When your finished your blog, you can just copy and paste it directly into your blog.
After you complete your blog entry, go to blogger.com, and create and account. After you create an account, you can start creating your blogs.
It may take a while to get the right blog name. There are thousands of names, that people have already chosen, but keep on trying. The name for your blog is a name that represents what your trying to say, and is a link that represents the blog itself.
Always choose a name for your blog, such as, “catchaphrase.com”, after you decide what your blog is going to be about. Blogs are like conversations. Somebody makes and opinion and other people comment on it. The link to your blog needs to be geared to a specific topic, or niche.
Take a look around the internet for ideas. Sometimes it may actually be useful to look at sites promoted by Google Adsense.
I mainly blog to record information I find on the internet, that may be useful to someone trying to find a solution to a problem, or get information for an article or research paper their writing.
After choosing a name for your blog you need to choose a title. The title should be something people are looking for.
Your title will be picked up by search engines, blog syndication's, and rss feeds. Your title should contain one of more of the keywords, people are likely to type in.
To find keywords can be a bit like looking for the proverbial needle in a haystack. There are tools that you can use to help you find the right keyword. Check out the keyword generator by Google for help. You can find it at, Google Keyword Tool.
Finally, you need to come up with a name for your blog posting of the day. Try to choose a suitable name, that will get your readers attention, and be eye catching.
